Lumière/Shine Ball | The Transformation Tent | The Illumination Tunnel

The Lumière Festival is about magic, transformation, and exploration. We are excited to launch 3 new projects that will reflect these ideals.

1. Lumière/Shine Ball - Attend the magical Lumière/Shine Ball and dance in our magical lantern lit ballroom to music from an 11 member live big band. This wonderful addition is sponsored by John Lawlor of Color Kinetics. John is going to work some wonderful LED magic and transform the tennis court into a dazzling display of light! (more information coming soon).

The Ball will be in motion at the following times:

6:40pm: 20 minutes
7:30pm: 15 minutes
9:10pm: 20 minutes
10:20 pm: 20 minutes

2. The Transformation Tent - Forgot your costume at home? Wishing you could sparkle with the rest of us? Make yourself part of this spectacular festival at the Transformation Tent! We’ve set up a magical tent to transform you from your usual everyday self into a unique character who’ll be sure to glimmer like everything else at the festival. Trust our team of transformation artists to delightfully decorate you from head to toe. Will you recognize yourself in the mirror?
   
   Vous avez oublié votre costume à la maison? Vous aimeriez briller comme le festival? Venez traversez le monde de la transformation. Cette tente magique vous offre la possibilité de participer à la magie du festival en vous costumant sous les doigts experts de nos artistes qui se feront un plaisir de vous décorez de la tête au pied. Allez-vous vous reconnaître dans le miroir?

Child and Youth Friendly Ottawa will be supplying volunteers for the Transformation Tent.

Time: 6 pm-10:30 pm

Location: Next to the field house

Jer's Vision: Canada’s Youth Diversity Initiative will be supplying volunteers for the Illumination Tunnel.

The Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa will be supplying volunteers for the Illumination Tunnel.

3. The Illumination Tunnel - This is one project that makes you "think within the BOX"!.

Between 50-100 giant appliance boxes will be formed into a HUGE illuminated tunnel.

The tunnel will have windows and sky lights and will be decorated in a diverse range of glow in the dark projects.

During the festival, people of all ages will be invited to explore the tunnel, complete with head lamps for a true tunnel feeling. We'll also have many pots of glow in the dark paint so that you can help create a giant graffiti installation too!
