The 5th Annual Ottawa Lumière Festival is a chance to celebrate the magic and beauty of light. The Festival is an evening of magical lanterns and wonderful costumes set in an enchanting park setting. Over 10,000 visitors attended in 2007.
Over 100 live performers, including professional fire spinners, dancers and acrobats, add to the enchanted feel. Visual artists create captivating light installations that illuminate the ethereal Lumière atmosphere.
New for 2008
- The Lumière Studio is now open and continues to make art contagious – we supply an amazing range of colourful and funky supplies and help you create a Lumière lantern to bring with you to the festival. (Lantern workshop prices range from $5-25) Or host a Light Up Lantern Workshop at your own home, business or organization!
- Small children encouraged to attend from 5-8:00 pm: performers, picnic and an 8:00 pm Family Finale.
- Too Cool Tulle Tent and Fairy Circle - costume creators and make up artists will make wings, tutus, hats and Lumière lovely designs.
- Allumez Vanier/Light Up Vanier – A collaborative partnership with Vanier community organizations to plan and produce lantern workshops.

Le 5e Festival annuel « Lumière » d’Ottawa est une occasion de célébrer la magie et la beauté de la lumière. Le festival est une soirée qui se déroule dans un parc enchanté par de merveilleuses lanternes et des costumes fantastiques . Plus de 10 000 personnes ont visité le festival en 2007.
Plus de 100 artistes de performances animent la soirée. Parmi ceux-ci se trouvent des danseurs, acrobates et lanceurs de feu. Des artistes visuels créent des installations qui illuminent le parc et font étinceller les lieux et les yeux de nos visiteurs.
Les nouveautés de 2008
- Le Studio Lumière est déjà ouvert et continue sa mission de propager les arts. Nous fournissons une variété impressionnante de matériaux et nous vous accompagnons dans la création d’une lanterne dont vous pourriez ensuite amener au festival. Le coût de nos ateliers est de 5 à 25$. Ou si vous préfériez, soyez l’hôte(sse) d’une atelier Allumez Lumière chez vous ou dans votre milieu de travail!
- Nous encourageons les familles avec de jeunes enfants à participer à l'évènement de 17h à 20h : performances, pique-nique et la Finale familiale à 20h00.
- Le cercle des fées et la tente « Trop Cool »Ici nos créateurs de costumes et artistes de maquillage créeront : ailes, chapeaux, habits pour vous aider à embarquer pleinement dans l’ambiance du festival.
- Allumez Vanier/Light Up Vanier :un projet en partenariat avec la communauté francophone de Vanier par lequel les résidents du quartier crée des lanternes pour le festival lors d’ateliers animés par une artiste
- L'affiche promotionnelle Lumière 2008 (http://www.lumiereottawa.com/docs/lumiere08-letter.pdf ) a été crée par MEOMI (http://www.meomi.com ). MEOMI a créé les mascottes des Jeux Olympiques et Paralympiques d’hiver de 2010.
