Sophie and the new Fire Weavers member, Brigitte, present an all new breathtaking fire dancing show at this year’s Lumiere Festival Finale. The show includes some new tricks, stunts and choreography with fire fans, fire poi and fire hula hoops!
The Fire Weavers brings an exciting sensory experience to corporate, private or public events. We are a fire performance group based in the Ottawa/Gatineau area in Canada, but also travel worldwide to bring unique entertainment to audiences of all ages.
The Fire Weavers teams up with The Mini Cirque Group and offer a complete range of circus-style entertainment, from these entrancing fire or light shows, dynamic hoop dancing, roaming stilt- walking or juggling performances to mobile interactive circus workshops. You are sure to find the perfect combination of entertainment that will make your event magical, memorable and unique. Classes and workshops for adults and kids run throughout the year.

The Fire Weavers group
In 2003 Sophie and Amber, two professional fire dancers, met and joined forces to create the Fire Weavers and to bring a unique form of entertainment to all types of events. Audiences of all ages are left captivated by the magic and mystery of their dancing flames. They are presently based in the Ottawa/Gatineau area (Canada) and are more than happy to travel worldwide. In 2009 Brigitte joined Fire Weavers to create a new show including some new and exciting fire elements. Sophie Latreille
Sophie has been performing and teaching performing arts since the age of 15 in 1990. It began with her love of dance, training extensively in many different forms of dance, and dancing professionally for 2 years. While taking a break from the dance world, travelling for 3 years in North and Central America, she met several circus troupes who made lasting impressions. During one of these encounters she discovered poi, the Polynesian art form of spinning balls at the ends of strings, which could also be performed as spinning fire chains. From her first encounter with fire poi, she knew it was something she was going to do. Mostly self-taught, sometimes exchanging with other artists, Sophie has always pushed the limits to see just how far the techniques and artistry of poi could be taken. Expressive by nature, blending poi and dance, her aspiration for creating original pieces of art has resulted in highly unique and dynamic fire performances.
2001 was the start of Sophie's performances with local circus groups. In 2003, she met Amber, also a professional fire dancer, and together they created the Fire Weavers. Every year these two women created new and more spectacular fire shows seen at all types of events all over the world. This impressive fire show has won national awards as well as rave reviews.
Sophie's exploration of other types of circus arts such as juggling, hula hooping, flower-sticks, clowning and acrobatics, culminates in the creation of Mini Cirque, a group of artists that animate events and teach circus skills in various schools. Sophie now makes her living solely as both performer and teacher in the circus arts.
Brigitte Ethier
Brigitte has been in love with hoop dance since her first encounter with this art in 2006 and has passionately trained and honed her technique and presentation over the last few years waking up early in the morning to hoop before going to her day job, during lunch hour and on weekends. With a strong background in figure skating, training under world renowned coaches and choreographers, she brings grace and fluidity to her intricate hoop manipulation and delivers energetic and engaging performances. Brigitte is an avid hoop performer and instructor teaching regular classes in the Ottawa area. You will also find her bringing her car full of different size hoops to special events to entertain with performances and workshops for all ages. She is now in her second year of professional hoop performance and is excited to present an all new duet performance with Sophie Latreille featuring spectacular LED glow hoops or fire hoops and fire fans.
