MINI CIRQUE

Mini Cirque brings a circus entertainment experience to corporate, private or public events. We are based in the Ottawa/Gatineau area in Canada, and we also travel worldwide. We are a collective of artists that offer Fire Performances, a Travelling Circus School, Circus workshops for schools, Roaming Animation including stilt-walking and juggling, and UV/Glow Performances.
Mini Cirque performers are perfect for local and international festivals and fairs, children’s and adult’s parties, night clubs, weddings, corporate events, team building workshops and other special events.

Roaming Performers / Animation

Also known as "walkabout", these performers are fabulously dressed in original costumes. They are roaming stilt walkers, jugglers and animators and can provide ambience and break the ice at any type of event.

Stilt Characters
Definitely not your typical "walk and wave" stilt walkers. We call them stilt characters because they excel in audience interaction and participation. Using multiple skills including improvisation, character acting and dancing, they can motivate and entertain audiences throughout an event. Other enhancements can include colorful banners, musical instruments, "Mega-poi", and assorted theme-oriented props.

Stilt characters are highly visible.
They easily draw attention exactly where you want it. Crowds of all ages can’t help but react to characters up high. They put a smile on everyone's face.

Event participants just love to have their picture taken with the tall people.
We have a variety of different costumes and can adapt to most events.

Sophie Latreille

Sophie has been performing and teaching performing arts since the age of 15 in 1990. It began with her love of dance, training extensively in many different forms of dance, and dancing professionally for 2 years. While taking a break from the dance world, traveling for 3 years in North and Central America, she met several circus troupes who made lasting impressions. During one of these encounters she discovered poi, the Polynesian art form of spinning balls at the ends of strings, which could also be performed as spinning fire chains. From her first encounter with fire poi, she knew it was something she was going to do. Mostly self-taught, sometimes exchanging with other artists, Sophie has always pushed the limits to see just how far the techniques and artistry of poi could be taken. Expressive by nature, blending poi and dance, her aspiration for creating original pieces of art has resulted in highly unique and dynamic fire performances.

2001 was the start of Sophie's performances with local circus groups. In 2003, she met Amber Robson, also a professional fire dancer, and together they created Fire Weavers performance troupe. Every year these two women create a new and more spectacular fire show seen at all types of events. This impressive fire show has won national awards as well as rave reviews.
Sophie's exploration of other types of circus arts such as juggling, hula hooping, flower-sticks, clowning and acrobatics, culminates in the creation of Mini Cirque, a group of artists that animate events and teach circus skills in various schools. Sophie now makes her living solely as both performer and teacher in the circus arts.

Alain Bard

Alain has a passion for the creative arts. Being an avid juggler since 1992, he learned to juggle while studying at the University of Ottawa, being a regular attendee of the local juggling jam. Although his geography degree has yet to pay a penny, his academic introduction to juggling has proven to be practical.

Alain is an accomplished designer and custom fabricates most of Mini Cirque's costumes. He loves to animate dressed in these fabulous costumes, especially on stilts. His experience combined with the right equipment - custom made, lightweight performance stilts - enable him to move with grace and fluidity that is uncommon for this art form.
Alain has been performing professionally both locally and internationally since 2004.
