Manon Doran

Manon Doran has been involved in the festival since 2004, as a performer, a lantern installation artist and this year she is the Lumiere Artistic Director.

Manon’s career experience includes working with the Cie Vox Théâtre, Learning through the arts Royal Conservatory of Music as a guest artist-educator, Centre of excellence for youth engagement/ Students Commission and Youth Net at the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) as the national coordination of a mental health promotion program for youth.

Manon’s focus is on art and its therapeutic effects on youth. She is currently the receipient of an artist-educator in school’s grant from the Ontario Arts Council as well she has worked as:

Facilitator for the StArt programs, Arts Ottawa East
Organization of « Baz’Art » a collective and community oriented art exhibit, garage sale and exchange forum
Facilitator of a therapeutic support group in youth detention center (William Hay), Youth Net
Creation, delivery and facilitation of Pens and Paints an artistic program for youth living with mental health issues
Facilitator of group discussions in mental health promotion and suicide prevention for youth, Youth Net
Tournée Filles-Femmes, workshops for young women to increase their self esteem in francophone high schools across Ontario

Manon’s artistic experience includes:

Series of collages for exhibit entitled ‘Mémoires de Casselman’

Setting up a collaborative studio space for artists
Set Design, puppet and accessory creation for Oz, Cie Vox Théâtre
Creation of lantern installations and performance for the Lumière Festival
Critic for the Zygote magazine
Mosaic Art (tables, floors, bathrooms)
Design and creation of models, independent video production (Sodark)
Creation of posters for the play: “Un mot pour un autre,” Theatre Department- University of Ottawa
Drafting texts & scripts for a promotional video, in partnership with Youth Net- Saw Video
Make-up and costume designer of transvestites in the film: “Jesus Christ Vampire Hunter”
Sculpture and mural exhibition at Memories restaurant
Production and set design (General Assembly of the franco-ontarien games, amateur shows, community productions)
