Jennifer Cayley
Jennifer Cayley: Storyteller
Jennifer’s passion for storytelling is based in a belief that narrative is hard wired into the human animal and that all of us hunger for the accumulated wisdom that has been stored up in oral literature over countless generations and for the directness of contact that is between teller and listener.
She has worked as a storyteller on a professional basis for well over a decades. She has told regularly in community venues and at festivals in Ottawa and across the country, at the 13 year old epic series at Rasputin’s Café and at the 4th Stage of the National Arts Centre.
As a teller, Jennifer has worked extensively with epic material as well as traditional folk and fairy tales, literary material, autobiographical material, and historical material. Like many serious tellers it is in the traditional folk and fairy tales that she finds the backbone, the shape makers, the inspiration out of which all the other work grows.
Jennifer is available for workshops and performances in theatres, schools, libraries and other community venues wishing to include and encourage storytelling as a powerful community and professional arts practice.
