PURPLE DRAGON PUPPET TROUPE

Kingston is home for the Purple Dragon Puppet Troupe. The troupe members combine their talents as musicians, magicians, woodworkers, teachers, artists and philosophers to create original puppet performances. They transform space and time from the familiar to the fabulous. The puppets range from six inches to eight feet and incorporate styles from around the world. They weave the stories through magic sets and live musical soundscapes engaging both the actors and the audience.

Queen’s University (Adults; theme of non-violence), Museum of Civilization (in French), Chinese and Japanese communities (with concurrent translation), Architects Of Ontario (in puppet stages they designed and built, on theme of architect history), Montreal School Board (concurrent English/French bilingual show), The Suzuki School of Music (on the Suzuki theory), Literacy Programs (Bringing the Word Alive), Paros (youth drug programme), Agricultural Fairs, Autism Camp (with workshop on creating puppets for the senses), H’art Studio (special needs adults), Camp Trillium (children with cancer), Providence Manor Altzheimers Unit, Montréal Jewish Community Centre, Faculty of Education (with concurrent sign language) Thousand Islands Casino (New Years Eve, for adults) and zillions more!
