Lazzi Lazzi – Bring a little Odyssey to your next event
Our renowned main stage productions in Strathcona Park are only part of Odyssey's story. We are also recognized for new play development, artist training, performance labs and Lazzi Lazzi.

Odyssey Theatre’s touring ensemble offers an exceptional spark to community events and social functions. This group of up to twelve actors specializes in Odyssey’s Commedia dell’Arte style, utilizing our delightful masks to create charming and unique background animation and theatre pieces.

Lazzi Lazzi ‘animates’ events with live actors in fabulous costumes whose zany antics and comical situations set a captivating and lighthearted tone at any community event. The ensemble interacts with members of the audience, fueling an exciting atmosphere of boisterous participation and group involvement.

The Commedia characters portrayed by members of Lazzi Lazzi will elicit smiles and laughter and generate enthusiasm from any and all attending their functions. Lazzi Lazzi also creates short Commedia based plays like their original “The Audition”.

Lazzi Lazzi has performed at many high-profile events and venues throughout the region including: the Governor General’s Performing Arts Awards, the National Arts Centre (Studio Theatre), the Canadian Aviation Museum during Canada Day festivities, the Museum of Civilization, the National Gallery, and the Great Canadian Theatre Company. They have also performed at private functions such as corporate parties.

Thea Nikolic, a veteran of Odyssey Theatre and an experienced mask performer, serves as Lazzi Lazzi’s new co-ordinator. Thea has been a long-term Lazzi Lazzi’s member and has been performing on Odyssey’s main stage for the past five years. Locally, she has also performed with Upper Canada Playhouse in Morrisburg, A Company of Fools, Third Wall Theatre and Eddie May Mystery Dinner Theatre.
