Lantern Workshops

The magical glow of lanterns, which have long been an important part of light festivals in many cultures from Europe to Asia, have always been an important part of the cultural heritage of the Ottawa Lumière Festival.
The Lumière Education and Community Outreach Programs offer multidisciplinary arts experiences that engage this cultural legacy and encourage interactive participation and meaningful engagement with the Festival for all audiences.

Drop in to any workshop and make a lantern of your choosing! There are different types and styles of lantern for suitable for different ages and skill levels. Patterns range from $10-$20 and have been designed for the festival by Ottawa visual artist Rachelle Carrier.

You will be guided through the lantern making process and walk away with a beautiful lantern which we hope you will bring with you to the Evening of Light Celebration on August 17th in Stanley Park.

Workshops are family-friendly and are a great way for everyone to exercise their creativity (and brighten up their home)!

The New Edinburgh House is located at 255 MacKay Street.

Please refer to the 2013 Workshop Calendar for dates, times and locations.
