The magical glow of lanterns, which have long been an important part of light festivals in many cultures from Europe to Asia, have always been an important part of the cultural heritage of the Ottawa Lumière Festival.
The Lumière Education and Community Outreach Programs offer multidisciplinary arts experiences that engage this cultural legacy and encourage interactive participation and meaningful engagement with the Festival for all audiences.
Drop in to any workshop and make a lantern of your choosing! There are different types and styles of lantern for suitable for different ages and skill levels.
You will be guided through the lantern making process and walk away with a beautiful lantern which we hope you will bring with you to the Lumière Festival on August 16th, 2014 in Stanley Park. There you will find a special section for our workshop lanterns. Have our volunteers help you hang yours in the tree, light it and then you can bring it home with you at the end of the vening.
Workshops are family-friendly and are a great way for everyone to exercise their creativity (and brighten up their home)!
The New Edinburgh House is located at 255 MacKay Street.
Fee: Starting at $10 per lantern.
