We welcome your participation; Every lantern made will help Ottawa shine!
The best way to participate in the Lumière Festival is to make your own lantern. We offer a variety of ways for you to be creative:
- Attend a lantern making class at the Crichton Cultural Community Centre. Workshops are offered year round.
- Call us to arrange a facilitated lantern making workshop for your camp, organization, bridal shower, sleep over or any other social gathering.
- We have lantern making kits available at the CCCC. These kits come with all the supplies you require (except for white glue), instructions and even an email address for if you need some help.

SNAZZY JAZZY JAR LANTERNS! │ Fee: $10
Made fun and easy! We start with an activity, and then each child will decorate
a glass jar with a variety
of colours and shapes of tissue paper and glitter.
The workshop will end with a friendly show ‘n’ tell.
Time: 9:30am -10:30am.

THE WHEELS ON THE BUS… │ Fee: $10

where we will decorate
the famous school bus!

Decorate your on set of fairy wings or bat wings and make a colourful paper bag lantern!

I LOVE BUGS │ Fee: $15
Decorate your pre-made lantern with your favourite bug! Bring your own image
or Lumière will have a variety
of insects for you to choose from.

STAR LANTERNS │ Fee: $25
Decorate your lantern with a whimsical array of tissue colours and shapes,
glitter and your imagination.
SESSION A] Time: 2pm – 4pm. Lantern structure is pre-made.
Date Offered: Thursday July 30 (7-9pm)
SESSION B] Time: 1pm – 4pm. Learn how to make a lantern structure.

LANTERN JAMBOREE! (ALL AGES) │Fee: $10 - $25 (depending on project)
For 3 days, our studio doors are openfor uninstructed but staff-supervised lantern making.
Time: 10am – 2pm, 6pm – 9pm (Dufferin Room)
Dates Available: AUGUST Tuesday 4th, Wednesday 5th, and Thursday 6th
Facilitated Lantern Making Workshop
To help fund and promote Lumière we are pleased to offer you facilitated lantern making workshops. We offer a variety of lantern types, making this activity accessible for all ages and artistic abilities. Workshops can be held at your location or at the Crichton Cultural Community Centre (www.crichtonccc.ca).

Lantern Making Kits
We offer lantern making kits and supplies. These beautifully packaged kits are a great activity to do at home and they make terrific gifts. We can also prepare lantern making supplies for organizations who wish to have their own lantern making workshops.
